Home » Hunting Catalogue – Black Impala
Black impala shot placement is always good for the trophy when you place the shot in the correct spot. The boiler room is a very safe shot to take and comparing the price to the trophy it is most adviseable to go for the safe option.
The Black Impala is a colour variant of the common impala antelope, with a striking black coat that contrasts with its white underbelly, ears, and facial markings.
This coloration is caused by a rare genetic mutation that results in an overproduction of dark pigments, giving the animal its distinctive appearance.
Black Impalas are highly sought after by hunters and collectors due to their rarity and unique beauty, but they are also valued as a symbol of natural diversity and the wonders of evolution. Despite their unusual colouring,
Black Impalas are able to thrive in their natural habitat and are known for their agility and impressive jumping abilities.
Shot placement on black impala has two possibilities. General rule of thumb on a broadside shot is to place the shot directly behind the shoulder of the black impala, about halfway up from the bottom of the chest to the top of the back. This will lead to a definite lung shot.
Place the shot right on the shoulder for a heart shot if you are presented with a perfect broadside shot.
Put the shot in the center of the chest of the black impala where the throat joins the body.
A frontal shot on black impala can become risky. They are slim animals offering a very small target for a facing on shot.
Aim for the inside of the closer shoulder to allow the shot to penetrate the vital organs. Black impala shot placement with medium bore calibers usually ends well for the hunter. Do not take the shot if you are unsure about the where the shot will hit.
Bisect the angle formed between the front legs, aim in the bottom third of the distance between the bottom of the chest and the top of the back of the black impala.
Black impala are not the biggest kids on the block. If you use premium grade ammunition, a quartering away shot will work well.
When it comes to trophy hunting black impala in South Africa, selecting the right caliber is crucial for a successful and ethical hunt. Here are the recommended calibers that have proven effective:
Therefore, it’s advisable to exercise caution when using these calibers. Ensure that you comply with local hunting regulations, prioritize shot placement, and respect ethical hunting practices during your black impala hunting expedition. Happy hunting, and may you have a rewarding trophy hunting experience!
