The Blue Wildebeest is a species of antelope found in the savannas and grasslands of southern and eastern Africa. They are recognised for their large size, with males weighing up to 600 pounds and standing up to four feet tall at the shoulder.
Blue Wildebeests are characterised by their dark blue-grey coat and long, dark mane, and both males and females have curved horns that can grow up to 30 inches long.
They are grazers and feed on grasses and herbs, and can travel long distances in search of food and water. Blue Wildebeests are social animals and live in large herds, sometimes numbering in the thousands, which helps them defend against predators such as lions and hyenas. Interestingly,
Blue Wildebeests have a unique behaviour where they engage in mass migrations, moving across the savanna in search of food and water, which is one of the largest land migrations in the world. Blue Wildebeests are an important prey species for many predators, and their conservation status is currently stable, with populations found in protected areas throughout their range. protected areas throughout their range.
Bisect the angle formed by the front legs, aiming at the opposite shoulder at the same height as for a broadside shot. Do not shoot too far back as this could lead to a shot through the stomach contents. The stomach contents are soggy and will lag the projectile in reaching the vitals
For shot placement on blue wildebeest when quartering to, aim at the inside of the closer shoulder at the same height as for a broad side shot.
Take your time and make sure you aim at the bottom of the throat where it meets the chest. On frontal shot placement do not misjudge where the throat joins the chest due to the beard. Blue wildebeest have a tendency to move their heads up-and-down whilst trying to stare you down. Be aware not to shoot when the face is down.
For a heart shot, place the shot right on the shoulder in line with the front leg. Shoot slightly below one third of the way up from the bottom of the brisket to the top of the hump on the back. To reach the lungs, aim slightly behind the shoulder between one third and halfway from the bottom of the brisket and the top of the hump.
