Home » Traveling From Abroad
South Africa is known for its stability and well-developed infrastructure, making travel within the country a pleasant experience. International travellers typically arrive at Johannesburg or Cape Town airports and can then take connecting flights to their final destinations, depending on the location of their safari.
When booking your safari, it’s important to plan your travel schedule accordingly. It is recommended to arrive one day prior to your first hunting day and depart the day after your last hunting day.
To enter South Africa, a valid passport is required. In most cases, visas are not required for American and European Union passport holders visiting South Africa.
However, if you plan to go on a safari in other Southern African countries, visas may be necessary. It is advisable to check with the relevant local Embassy well in advance of your safari. Visa fees, if applicable, are typically charged in USD$ cash.
As of June 1, 2015, the South African Department of Home Affairs implemented new requirements for travellers under the age of 18. Additional documentation is now necessary for travel to and from South Africa.
All travellers under 18 must have a full birth certificate with the child’s complete name as printed on the passport. The birth certificate should display the details of both parents. Additionally, both parents’ passports and a valid visa, if required, must be presented.
If only one parent is travelling with a child, an unabridged certificate and an affidavit from the other parent, registered as a parent on the birth certificate, are necessary. The affidavit authorises the travelling parent to enter or depart South Africa with the child. If applicable, a court order granting full parental responsibility and certified copies of both parents’ passports should also be provided, along with a 24-hour contact number.
Please note that travellers under 18 without the required documentation will be prohibited from traveling to and from South Africa.
We hope that you will continue with your plans to join us on safari, and we will provide any necessary assistance and guidance throughout the process.
